Abruzzo, between heaven and earth!

The Region of Sea and Park

The Sea

With about 130 km of coast, Abruzzo faces the Adriatic Sea with a double aspect: wide and sandy to the north; with creeks and cliffs that alternate to the south.

Therefore also from the coastal point of view our Region enjoys a diversity of natural landscapes worthy of being explored and experienced fully.

The Mountain

From the mountainous point of view Abruzzo is also called the Green Region of Europe; This is because inside there are 3 National Parks, a Regional Park and 38 between Oasis and Regional and State Reserves.

In these places mountain guides, alpine guides, park rangers together with local tourist operators will offer you the most suitable routes and excursions for the seasonality and your needs.

Villages and History

In 1948 the Italian Constitution contemplated the establishment of the Abruzzo and Molise Region, in 1963 the reform sanctioned its definitive detachment.

The beauty of Abruzzo also resides in the 23 villages that have entered the club of "I Borghi Più Belli d'Italia" of which we cite campli, famous for the “Scala Santa” and for the delicious and traditional "porchetta"; Civitella del Tronto, which from the top of its promontory boasts the beautiful and suggestive Medieval Fortress; Castelli, with its wonderful ceramics that adorn many of the houses throughout Italy.

A vast choice not only from a landscape point of view but also from an urban one.

Art and Culture

Also from an artistic point of view Abruzzo enjoys a great wealth of monuments and attractions that every year attract a large number of visitors from all over Italy and the world.

A huge heritage is represented by the castles scattered throughout the territory, medieval churches in the middle of lonely highlands, hermitages hidden in the mountain ravines together and by imposing abbeys that make it a real museum of outdoor architecture.

Enogastronomy

Abruzzo is a guarantee of great history and gastronomic tradition.

Starting from the famous Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, red wine par excellence consumed all over Italy and exported with great success and prestige all over the world, and then move to the Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo, excellent rosé suitable for all types of meals, and get to Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, white of good structure that inebriates the palate of tasters and enriches the delicious dinners of local fish that can be eaten on the coast and finally finish all by tasting the liqueur of Abruzzo par excellence: the Genziana.

To be combined with these oenological excellences there is a huge range of typical dishes that change from north to south first on all the famous “arrosticini”.

Events and Traditions

Immersed in the roots and tradition of this region are the numerous medieval re-enactments of which we cite the “Palio del Barone” at Tortoreto and the “Palio delle botti” in Corropoli.

Belonging to a more recent historical period but becoming a now tradition is, instead, the famous Summer Carnival in Alba Adriatica.
